Arch West, beloved creator of Doritos, passes

Yesterday was a sad day for Doritos lovers worldwide as the news arose that Arch West, the genius behind the Doritos brand , had passed away last Tuesday. His daughter, Jana Hacker, told the press the family plans on “tossing Doritos chips in before they put the dirt over the urn.”

The story behind Doritos is interesting; while on a family vacation near San Diego in 1961, West discovered a vendor selling fried tortilla chips. The original chip idea got a lukewarm reception, but some additional marketing research brought us the Doritos that we still know and  love today.
