Doritos’ Crash The Super Bowl contest is back for the seventh consecutive year, this time around with a big Hollywood ending — the chance to work with director Michael Bay on Transformers 4, set for release June 27, 2014.
This year’s effort elicited thousand s of entries from filmmakers vying for one of two Super Bowl ad slots — one selected by Doritos (Bay is a judge) and another by an online poll. There’s an additional $1 million prize if one of the ads finishes at No. 1 on USA Today‘s Ad Meter.
Five finalists for the Crash the Super Bowl contest will be announced in January 2013. Then, fans vote online for their favorites. Doritos will run the top two consumer-generated spots during 2013’s Super Bowl XLVII, which airs on Sunday, February 3 on CBS.
For the first time in Crash the Super Bowl history, the contest is running from a Crash the Super Bowl-brand ed app on the Doritos Facebook Page ( www.facebook.com/DoritosUSA). The new app brings a higher level of connectivity and social interaction between participants, making it easier for anyone from any background to play a role in the creation of the next great Doritos masterpiece.
