Last Fall construction began on a new park right in the middle of downtown Dallas. For a city whose downtown is pretty much defined (and confined) by different interstates, a new park is a big deal. Especially when it takes up a city block.
Now that the city has broken ground on an even bigger project, entitled the Park, let’s not forgot the joyous green space that lives 2 blocks south of our offices. The space includes a café which serves lunch and beer/wine, and is perhaps the only place in Dallas you can get a tall boy of Brooklyn lager. And with the long dormant Statler Hilton (the first Modernist building in the US) recently being bought by a developer, who knows what’s in store for this humble downtown oasis. A TMA sponsored picnic perhaps?
